8 Actors In The Running For Star-Lord In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

2014 will see Marvel branching away from their more popular characters and introducing the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. The guardians are not the same ones featured in the recent Dreamworks picture, but are instead an intergalactic band of protectors. With James Gunn in the director’s chair, we’re now hearing our first news on casting. With Rocket Raccoon and Groot most likely to be CGI, we’re hearing mutterings on who will play one of the human characters, Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord.

Star-Lord is a half human/half alien vigilante. He became Star-Lord, an interplanetary policeman, by an act of deception. Although he originally volunteered for the part, a NASA colleague of his was chosen instead. Quill was able to take to his place. His weapons of choice are two Kree sub-machine guns.

There are currently eight actors up for the partand they are Joel Edgerton, Garrett Hedlund, Jack Huston, James Marsden, Lee Pace, Eddie Redmayne, Jim Sturgess, and Sullivan Stapleton. There’s a lot of up and coming talent in that selection and I’d be pleased to see any of them get the part, but because of their roles in WARRIOR and PUSHING DAISIES respectively, I would have to cheer on Joel Edgerton and Lee Pace.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is released 1st August 2014.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
