For the first time in Pixar sequel history, MONSTERS INC. director Pete Docter is not returning to direct MONSTERS UNIVERSITY. Instead, Dan Scanlon (story artist for TOY STORY 3) is taking over – the shock, the horror! Originally titled The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind (I didn’t think that would catch on, somehow) it has been revealed that Stefano Bethlen (head of Disney’s distribution in Italy) has accidently let slip that the project has been renamed: THE INSIDE OUT.
When asked what the film will be about, fellow Pixar employee (and the Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering) John Lasseter has said:
‘The emotions of this little girl are the characters and it takes place in the head of this little girl, and shows how they control things that go on.’
As a HUGE Pixar fan I am extremely excited for MONSTERS UNIVERSITY and now I won’t have to suffer from PPD (Post-Pixar Depression) after seeing it, being safe in the knowledge that another original film will be on its way soon!
