Metrodome Confirm Release Details For Emotionally Savage Horror ‘Before Dawn’

A little zombie film we caught at a screening during Manchester’s cult and horror festival Grimmfest in early October, threw up quite a surprise for THN. Directed and starring EMMERDALE’s Dominic Brunt, BEFORE DAWN seemed to have have very little going for it. A first time director, British actors best known for their roles in a beloved-but-corny soap drama as well as a meagre budget. Yet the film, which follows a couple struggling with a relationship breakdown during an unknown undead outbreak is devastatingly emotive (our review here).
We finally have a press release giving all the details regarding the films limited cinema and DVD release. If you like your zombie movies with brains (in both senses), lingering long in the memory, we urge you go see BEFORE DAWN.

METRODOME DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCES 22nd FEBRUARY 2013 RELEASE DATE FOR

BEFORE DAWN

STARRING: DOMINC BRUNT (EMMERDALE), JOANNE MITCHELL & NICK EVANS (SHAMELESS)

Dominic Brunt (Emmerdale) teams up with wife Joanne Mitchell for his directorial debut, zombie horror Before Dawn.

Alex and Meg’s marriage is hanging by a thread. The solution seems simple – a romantic holiday to an idyllic cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. This is the chance both of them need to find themselves, and rediscover their love for one another. But the Yorkshire Dales aren’t romantic, and the idyllic cottage isn’t too peaceful! The weekend that starts out as an opportunity for love and affection, takes an unexpected turn – into a fierce fight for survival as it becomes clear that they’re not alone in this rural haven.

What starts off as a gripping psychological drama between a struggling married couple, suddenly descends into a shocking, non stop gruesome nightmare. As panic and confusion sets in, Alex and Meg have to confront the fears within themselves and face a desperate fight for survival against a bloody terror that could literally tear them apart forever. Probably with it’s bare hands…

Out in cinemas 22nd February 2013 and on DVD from 25th February 2013

Certificate & running time TBC

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
