Dogwoof Celebrate Two Films On The Oscar Documentary Shortlist!

We wanted to pass on the excellent news that among the 15 titles that will advance in the voting process for the category of Best Documentary Feature, two of Dogwoof‘s own, THE HOUSE I LIVE IN and CHASING ICE, have been chosen in the shortlist by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The team at Dogwoof had this to say:

We’re very proud to have The House I Live In and Chasing Ice mentioned among so many other fantastic documentaries from the past year. The inclusion of these Dogwoof films is a testament to the power and persuasion of both films as they consider the world around us and push audiences towards making a change.

First up is CHASING ICE, that’s coming to cinemas December 14th.

Acclaimed photographer James Balog was once a skeptic about climate change. But through his Extreme Ice Survey, he discovers undeniable evidence of our changing planet. In Chasing Ice, Balog deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers.

Chasing Ice opens in cinemas on December 14th, and they’re having a special preview Q&A panel on 11 December: tickets here.

THE HOUSE I LIVE IN – still showing in cinemas now!

For over forty years, America’s “War on Drugs” has accounted for 45 million arrests, made America the world’s largest jailer, and damaged poor communities at home and abroad. Yet for all that, drugs in America are cheaper, purer, and more available today than ever before. Filmed in more than twenty U.S. states, THE HOUSE I LIVE IN captures heart-wrenching stories at all levels of America’s drug war. It was released in November but you can still catch a screening now! The 15 films that have made the shortlist will be voted on by the Academy’s Documentary Branch members in order to narrow the list down to the 5 titles which will receive Oscar nominations. The Academy Award nominations will be announced on 10 January 2013, and we have high hopes that our films will be among the documentary nominees. A full list of the 15 shortlisted titles can be found here.
