Fans of Peter Jackson’s epic LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy have less than a week before they see their favourite hairy-footed reluctant hero travel on AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, with the first of Jackson’s prequel trilogy. Martin Freeman will play the titular adventurer, set to aid a band of fearless dwarf warriors in retrieving their stolen loot from fiery winged-serpent, Smaug.
Here we have an extensive fascinating look at the forthcoming film, as well as an all-new television spot, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary Middle-earth fantasy fable that hits cinemas from the 13th December.
UPDATE: We have just added this still of Barry Humphries’ Mo-Capped Goblin King facing off against Gandalf.
THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY co-stars Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett, Ian McKellen, James Nesbitt, Richard Armitage, Hugo Weaving, Ken Stott, Graham McTavish, Aiden Turner, Barry Humphries, Andy Serkis and Christopher Lee.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
