Negotiations are now underway to see which members of the original trilogy cast will be returning for the latest X-MEN movie. The very second that it was announced the title for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS’ sequel would be titled X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, fans immediately began to speculate as to whether or not the cast of the original trilogy would return. This was because the comic-book arc on which this film is based, features alternate parallel universes, and time travel. Once Matthew Vaughn stepped down as director and X-MEN and X2 director Bryan Singer stepped into his shoes, it was only a matter of time before we heard rumblings of certain actors returning to the franchise. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were confirmed to reprise their roles, and Hugh Jackman has undergone discussions about returning for his seventh shot at Wolverine.
Halle Berry and James Marsden are obvious choices to return for their role. Both of whom seemed to love working with Singer. Marsden even had his role shortened in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, so that he could act as Lois Lane’s love interest in Singer’s SUPERMAN RETURNS. Meanwhile, we have four of the cast from the 1960s set X-MEN: FIRST CLASS confirmed, including Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult. It will be interesting to see those guys under the direction of Singer, and also how the two timelines will interconnect. No doubt this is a hugely ambitious project, that will hopefully combine the series into a great whole.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is set for release 18th July 2014. It will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
