Already touted as a possible Oscar contender, J. A. Bayona’s emotional true-story THE IMPOSSIBLE, follows a family enjoying their Christmas vacation on the beautiful beaches and resorts of Thailand, before that devastating tsunami struck on Boxing Day 2004. The film is said to be a realistic, harrowing account of that fateful day with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts as the couple struggling to be reunited with their children in the aftermath of the carnage.
The film, coming from the director of the excellent ghostly-thriller THE ORPHANAGE, is due in cinemas in the US on the 21st December and later arriving in the UK on the 1st January 2013. Check out this featurette and clips from THE IMPOSSIBLE which also co-stars Tom Holland, Geraldine Chaplin, Marta Etura and Oaklee Pendergast.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
