McCarthy And Bullock Feel The Heat In New Red Band Trailer

The Heat, Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy

Here’s the new red band trailer for THE HEAT, the new comedy from the director of BRIDESMAIDS starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.

FBI agent Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) is at the top of her game. She’s known for being the best (and least popular) investigator around. Against her will, she is teamed with Shannon Mullins (McCarthy), a foul-mouthed, maverick cop from the mean streets of Boston. She may not be by-the-book, but she gets the job done. Now this unlikely partnership must put aside their differences to catch a ruthless drug baron, and maybe grow to like each other along the way.

This may seem a little familiar, to say the very least. It’s TANGO & CASH. It’s LETHAL WEAPON. It’s 48 HOURS. It’s practically every single buddy-cop movie ever made BUT it’s the first starring two women. It’s also written by a woman and directed by a man who has made a career working with women in comedy. Enjoy.

Looks alright, don’t it? There is quite a bit of pedigree behind this movie; Bullock is an Oscar winner and McCarthy received an Oscar nomination for her part in BRIDEMAIDS, which was directed by Paul Feig, the director of THE HEAT. He has also helmed some of the most critically acclaimed television comedy in recent years, such as 30 ROCK, WEEDS, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and THE OFFICE amongst others (including MAD MEN. Not a comedy, but imagine directing MAD MEN for Christ’s sake!). It’s written by Katie Dippold, one of the main writers and producers on PARKS AND RECREATION (which Fieg also directed). She is set to be one of the hot new screenwriters in the coming years. There are lots of reasons to be confident that THE HEAT will be a great new addition to the buddy-cop canon.

It will be blasting into UK and US cinemas on the 5th of April 2013.

John is a gentleman, a scholar, he’s an acrobat. He is one half of the comedy duo Good Ol’ JR, and considers himself a comedy writer/performer. This view has been questioned by others. He graduated with First Class Honours in Media Arts/Film & TV, a fact he will remain smug about long after everyone has stopped caring. He enjoys movies, theatre, live comedy and writing with the JR member and hetero life partner Ryan. Some of their sketches can be seen on YouTube and YOU can take their total hits to way over 17!
