Vampire Superhero ‘Blade’ To Be Rebooted!?

A heroic character who maybe doesn’t get enough credit for kick-starting the recent trend of comic-book/superhero efforts is human/vampire hybrid BLADE. Stephen Norrington’s hugely successful and enjoyable action-horror saw Wesley Snipes headline as the sword-swinging, revenge-fuelled bloodsucker, hunting the creatures that chomped on his pregnant mother and landing him with his curse. Guillermo del Toro’s sequel, BLADE II, was even better but David S. Goyer, writer of the previous two entries, made his directorial debut with the dire threequel that suffered from studio interference and an egotistical, tax-dodging lead actor.

Goyer, who has since been responsible for screenplays and stories with the likes of Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT trilogy and the forthcoming Superman reboot, MAN OF STEEL, expects a reboot very soon without former producer and star Snipes.

Now that Marvel/Disney have recaptured the rights, I’m sure it will be [remade]. They made too much money on that character to not reboot him at some point. Between merchandise and what not, that little character generated almost a billion dollars.

Would you like to see BLADE back on the big-screen?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

I want Idri Elba to play as Blade in the reboot movie and action figure and vehicle toys.
