The highly anticipated sequel in the CAPTAIN AMERICA series has been kept under wraps for the last few months, but luckily for us Anthony Mackie has given a little bit of information. Anthony Mackie will be playing The Falcon in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLIDER, and he has made sure that he has studied for the part. Speaking in an interview he said:
“It was funny; a lot of the research I found was online. My older brother was a huge comic book buff. So when the news came out online, he called me and just gave me the whole rundown. Luckily, I have a lot of friends who weren’t cool growing up, but who are really cool now, so they read a lot of comic books. So I would just call and ask them, and they would send me all of this stuff online, and I got to read a bunch of the old comic books. It’s fortunate, because it’s a take off the comic book, it’s not the exactly storyline of the comic book.”
So what did Mackie reveal about his character? Well not as much we usually hope, but he did say:
“I will have wings. I will be able to fly. I will be a superhero and fight people, namely The Winter Soldier.”
Mackie did not reveal any more than that, because he fears that if he revealed too much he could be replaced. As he also revealed filming for the new Cap film starts April 1st, maybe that is wise.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLIDER is set to be released April 14th 2014.
