Marc Webb’s superhero reboot, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, may have come too soon for some, but there is no doubt it was a decent addition to the often crowded summer calendar. With a sequel announced even before it’s release, then confirmation it will indeed be a trilogy (and both again headed by Webb), anticipation for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, soon warmed up.

We recently brought you news of Shailene Woodley’s casting of Mary-Jane Watson, then soon after CHRONICLE’s Dane Dehaan and Jamie Foxx as Harry Osborne and main protagonist Electro, respectively. All who join the returning Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field and Martin Sheen. Now we have word another previously unseen villain will take the battle to Peter Parker and his web-swinging alter-ego…

Paul Giamatti is currently locked in negotiations for the role of ‘Rhino’, a character who originally appeared as Aleksei Mikhailovich Sytsevich in 1966. He is known as a former low-level thug, who invented and experimented on himself with a nearly-indestructible polymer skin, making him almost indestructible.

The stunning Felicity Jones is also expected to join the cast in an as-yet-unknown role.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
