Images Emerge Of Nic Cage In Costume From Tim Burton’s Cancelled ‘Superman Lives’!

An infamous project that saw Warner Bros. sink over $30 million into production in 1998 before pulling the plug on its development, was SUPERMAN LIVES. Set to be directed by Tim Burton, the doomed project has seen a number of test footage and images of the design stage of sculpted costumes, surface over the years. For comic-book fans and especially those of the Kryptionian Kal-El, SUPERMAN LIVES has always been that ‘what if’ movie that got away.

While it’s well known Nicolas Cage would have led the film as the high-flying superhero, there has been nothing substantial regarding images and footage of the Oscar-winning actor in the iconic colours. Well, today that has changed as we’re able to bring you this neat image (albeit black and white) of Cage donning one of the designs.

A documentary is currently in the works which will investigate the film’s failure to make to the big-screen and is expected to feature all the main players like Burton, Cage and Warner chiefs to get their perspective on just what went wrong. With the release of Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL coming this summer, this detailed documentary should be fascinating and you can find out more and support the making via THE DEATH OF ‘SUPERMAN LIVES’ Kickstarter funding page HERE!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
