Ben Affleck Wins Big At Director’s Guild Awards

The Academy Award snub for Ben Affleck seems more and more ludicrous as each award show passes. After getting Best Director awards at The Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards, Affleck took home another big honour last night as he won the Best Director of a Feature Film at the Director’s Guild Awards.

Voted on by the members of the guild, who probably should have a small idea of what directing is all about, Affleck is the first director since Ron Howard who has won a DGA without being nominated for an Oscar! It’s a travesty that he didn’t get nominated, and you have to feel kind of bad for whoever ends up winning it because they’re bound to be overshadowed by Affleck anyway. However, if he keeps up directing quality work like he has so far, it will only be a matter of time before they have to give him the credit he is due.

Esben Evans is the Danish contingent on this site. He enjoys films, swearing a lot, and a nice pair of slacks.
