IMAX finalized a deal with Paramount Pictures that would allow J.J. Abrams’ much-anticipated STAR TREK sequel to hit the screen in the giant 3D format two whole days before its official wide release.
The special 15th May 2013 release date came about when the studio noticed the mounting excitement and speculation that followed the nine-minute sneak peek that accompanied the IMAX screening of December’s THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY.
Fans can already start purchasing tickets for the exclusive IMAX advance screenings at participating theatres.
The second installment of the popular reboot stars returning cast members Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana, as well as newcomer Benedict Cumberbatch. STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS hits theatres worldwide on 17th May 2013.
