Everyone knows my love for Timothy Olyphant knows no bounds after his role of Seth Bullock the greatest television series ever, DEADWOOD. However, even I thought he was horribly miscast in the big-screen adaptation of video-game, HITMAN, this despite not being able to fill the back of a postage stamp with what I know about gaming and consoles. It didn’t help the film had a weak script and everyones knows his inclusion was a late addition following scheduling conflicts with original choice Vin Diesel, who also served as producer after steering the film to development.

Fox International Productions will now give the hit game another go on the big-screen, with Diesel’s frequent FAST & FURIOUS co-star Paul Walker confirmed to shave his head and don the barcode of the genetically engineered, cloned assassin. This new version will try and distance itself from the previous poorly received outing by undergoing a title change of AGENT 47, which will no doubt still appeal to hardcore fans.

Skip Woods, who penned the screenplay for the original film, will return but will this time collaborate with Mike Finch. Acclaimed commercial director Aleksander Bach will make his feature film debut with the action-thriller set to shoot this summer for a release next year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
