The majority of the world seemed to love a bit of SKYFALL, so they’ll be happy to hear that it is being reported that director Sam Mendes is very likely to return to the franchise. In an article for The Daily Mail, Baz Bamigboye suggests that Mendes is 75 % “of the way towards doing it” but is waiting “to see the finished script before he fully commits”. The original plan was to have two Bond films produced back-to-back with a singular story connecting them, and that seems to have been an idea that Mendes was not too keen on. Mendes “had initially been reluctant because… (John) Logan was planning to write a two-part story that would have been shot back-to-back, which would have taken four years out of the director’s life.”
You can expect to see all principle cast members return including Daniel Craig, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes. In the meantime, Mendes is working on a stage production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Which isn’t a thousand miles away from Bond…kind of.
