Love it or hate it, PROMETHEUS got people talking and opened up the ALIEN-franchise in a different way to what anyone expected. It didn’t exactly ‘give answers‘ as it continually promised and it may have had a pointlessly old Guy Pearce in a latex suit for no reason, but I loved the sci-fi epic and its sheer scale cannot be underestimated. I, for one, am rather intrigued about where they go next especially after both Rapace and Fassbender were confirmed for the sequel/prequel/reboot almost immediately after PROMETHEUS crash-landed.
In the meantime, we’ve just received news that Noomi Rapace (who’s currently working on DEAD MAN DOWN) has been speaking to The Playlist and she’s revealed that the sequel is definitely under way and she’s already spoken to Ridley Scott about it:
“They’re working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It’s just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will.”
She also gave her thoughts on making PROMETHEUS:
“I love working with Ridley. It was a pure joy [and] was really hard work sometimes. My body was a complete mess – I had bruises and cuts and emotionally I was a bit slammed. But being in his world and his universe was such an amazing experience.”
Also, quite obviously, everyone I spoke to has a different perspective on what the story meant, who was what and where it might go next…for those wanting to see where it goes next, of course. The amusing thing is, I bet even if you hated it, you’ll still have a little bit of intrigue in the back of your head for the follow-up. When Noomi was asked about her thoughts about what’s next, and things she wouldn’t mind seeing, she said:
“It’s interesting because people, most people I’ve talked to who see the movie, see things that are quite different. Some people who see the movie many times and discover new things. There are all these religious aspects and there are very interesting conversations,” Rapace continued. “And for me, if we do a second one, there are a lot of things to explore in there and to continue.” She added: “I would love to do it.”
So, it’s almost conclusive but there’s still a lot to be done and we’ll be here reporting what we can, when we can! For my Blu-ray screening review of PROMETHEUS click along here and if you still think Prometheus Sucked then just click here.
