There’s been a lot of talk concerning the casting of the next X-MEN film X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Ever since Matthew Vaughan left the project and Bryan Singer returned, many if the cast members from the original trilogy have also come back. This is quite an exciting opportunity, given that the film will deal with time-travel and the like. However, one cast member is still not 100% sure of their return, as Halle Berry still can’t confirm she will be back as Storm.
Speaking to Shadow and Act Berry hinted that she is 90% sure of her return:
Well, she did confirm to me that she would be returning in the role. Most likely. Practically 90% sure. And she nodded a lot too. I can’t say, and neither could she say that it’s definitely a done deal, and that the contracts have all been signed, with all the “i”s dotted and the “t”s crossed.
She told me that are a few details that are still being negotiated which she couldn’t get into. But since she did tell me that the film starts shooting in April, it’s highly unlikely that talks are going to suddenly and horribly fall apart at this point, and the producers have to scramble to find a replacement at the very last minute. Of course, it’s very possible that something could happen and that she won’t be in it at all. But that’s not a possibility that I got from her.
Sounds pretty promising, but do we want her back? Although I think Berry did well with the material she was given (no one could have delivered that lightning/toad line well), Storm never became the mature and wise character she was always portrayed as. The cast is also a pretty damn big one as it is already and I’d hate to push out any cast members from X-MEN: FIRST CLASS just for the sake of having a number of walk-on shout-outs.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is set for release 18th July 2014. It will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, and Ian McKellen.
