Hogwarts Alumni Eye Roles In ‘Cinderella’ & ‘Frankenstein’

Daniel Radcliffe Emma Watson Frankenstein CinderellaAfter achieving great grades at the school of witchcraft and wizardry Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe have found it hard applying the skills they learnt at school in the real world. Luckily for them, they both happen to be fairly good actors, which means they can go after roles in what us muggles call ‘feature length motion pictures’. Although nothing is set in stone, they are both in talks to work on famous (and some would say worn) tales, CINDERELLA and FRANKENSTEIN (those are two separate films by the way, although I’d love to see a mash-up).

Watson is in talks to lead Disney’s live-action CINDERELLA. I’d say her chances of nabbing the role are pretty high, especially since her HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS co-star Kenneth Branagh is sat in the director’s chair. Cate Blanchett will play the evil stepmother (is there any other kind?), but no word yet on the ugly stepsisters. I guess in today’s politically correct world of madness it will be ‘the aesthetically distressing’ sisters or something. Why not cast Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe in drag?

Well, maybe not Radcliffe as he is in talks to play a role in 20th Century Fox’s FRANKENSTEIN, but not as the eponymous scientist nor the monster, but as Igor. A character not in Mary Shelley’s original novel, but has found fame in many a film adaptation. Paul McGuigan is directing FRANKENSTEIN, after stepping in for Shawn Levy. This interpretation is to be scripted by Max Landis, but it is still unclear as to how the adaptation will actually unfold, with lots of talk about an updated  and maybe even futuristic take on the story.

Let’s hope each of these films will bring something new to the classic stories they are adapting.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
