Two New Grandstanding Posters For Baseball Biopic ’42’ Starring Harrison Ford

Writer and director Brian Helgeland latest effort sees him back behind the camera for 1940s-set baseball biopic, 42. A simple title that refers to the number worn by baseball icon Jackie Robinson, on which this drama will focus on. Robinson is a colour-breaking legend as he was the first black player to be integrated into the passionate game, while his skills on the field were some of the best in history.

The film will follow admired Coach Branch Rickey’s (Harrison Ford) struggle in forcing baseball to accept taking the youngster from the Negro Leagues and into the Major League, as segregation and racism was rife in America and the game itself. Robinson (played by newcomer Chadwick Boseman) went on to become a superstar in the sport, playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers between 1947-56. He sadly passed away aged 53 following a heart attack but was later inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame.

Check out these two new posters from the film garnering early rave reviews and arriving in the US on the 12th April, while a UK date is still to be confirmed.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
