The last baseball biopic we got, which was more of a focus on the statistics side of things, was the excellent and Oscar-nominated MONEYBALL starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. Brian Helgeland’s latest fact-based sporting drama, takes a look at the early shame of the game as he tells the story of icon Jackie Robinson and how he broke the colour barrier for black players to cross into the Major League in 1947.
42, titled after Robinson’s legendary shirt number, stars newcomer Chadwick Boseman as the slugger-turned-superstar spotted playing in the Negro League by coach Branch Rickey. Harrison Ford takes on the role of the man who forced the sport to end the controversial segregation, making history in the process.
Here we have look at a further three posters for the film due in US cinemas from the 12th April, while the UK still awaits a date.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
