Grohl, Homme & Reznor Pound It Out For ‘Sound City’ Soundtrack

be1922b7We’ve been keeping an eye on Nirvana and Foo Fighter’s legend Dave Grohl’s SOUND CITY documentary since we first heard inklings that it was in production. The unstoppable drummer wanted to explore the origins and history of the famous Sound Studios Van Nuys in LA, which has been churning out classics since 1969 with the likes of Nirvana, Neil Young and Tom Petty.

Now we’ve got our music mitts on this stunning 8-minute collaboration of Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Trent Reznor for ‘Mantra‘. It’s a brooding, building concoction of  sound that shows their natural talent, alongside that almost telepathic musical intuition that binds the greats together. At this point, you might be thinking…but you’re a film site…and we are but considering SOUND CITY is a documentary is out there now, and the Sound City Players are playing at SXSW on March 14th, there’s every reason to share:
