Despite Jason Segel not returning for THE MUPPETS…AGAIN! things were looking good when Christoph Waltz was confirmed as an Interpol agent that becomes involved with the gang of puppets against the backdrop of a European heist. As is often the case, scheduling conflicts prevented Waltz from taking the role. Luckily, a worthwhile replacement in the form of MODERN FAMILY’s Ty Burrell was cast.
But the great thing about The Muppets has always been their ability to mix in celebrity cameos, and it has now been confirmed by Ricky Gervais, who plays the main villains sidekick, that Waltz has been on set and may have completed his scenes. In late December, Waltz said he may have a cameo and that cameo may involve a dance sequence with Miss Piggy. From Gervais’ comments, it sounds as though Waltz ended up covered in dust. Make of that what you will.
THE MUPPETS AGAIN…! is released 21st March 2014. It stars Kermit The Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Animal, Fozzie Bear, Rickey Gervais, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey, Ray Liotta, Til Schweiger, and Peter Serafinowicz.
