Roland Emmerich’s ‘White House Down’ Trailer Lands With A Brooding New Poster

We’ve recently showcased a trio of rather low-key teaser posters (see here and here) for destruction master Roland Emmerich’s latest actioner, WHITE HOUSE DOWN. Each gave us a glimpse at the peace and tranquility of a Washington D.C. morning, with an ominous tagline of ‘It Will Start Like Any Other Day‘.

The plot for the film (do Emmerich’s films even have one?) follows rookie police officer John Cale (Channing Tatum), on a tour of the White House with his young daughter, who desperately rushes to the aid of his child, civilians and the President himself (Jamie Foxx), when the White House comes under attack from a heavily armed group of paramilitary invaders led by ZERO DARK THIRTY’s Jason Clarke.

I hate to compare it to the recent US release, OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN, but I will, simply because it has an almost identical premise and boasting an equally star-studded supporting cast including Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods and Richard Jenkins. It’s slated for the US on 28th June, the UK 6th September and here’s the first trailer along with a brooding new one-sheet.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
