We can piss and moan about Michael Bay all we want, but the truth is, the guy still made BAD BOYS. Sure, that may have been 18 years ago and the sequel, BAD BOYS II, was made a decade ago, but it’s a good sign that PAIN & GAIN looks to be in a similar vein. PAIN & GAIN sees Michael Bay tone things down in terms of budget, before he tackles TRANSFORMERS 4, as he tells the true story of two bodybuilders that get caught up in kidnapping, extortion, and other such crimes. It’s most certainly a dark comedy with some action, and even though the trailer didn’t make me wet my pants, there were still a few good laughs. Most notably Wahlberg’s tirade against a little kid at the end, which brought back memories of his character in THE DEPARTED.
PAIN & GAIN is released 26th April in the US and 3rd May in the UK. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackie, Ken Jeong, Ed Harris, Rebel Wilson, Rob Corddry, and Tony Shaloub.
