21, ONE DAY, and CLOUD ATLAS star Jim Sturgess has signed on for a role in the upcoming horror ELIZA GRAVES. Sturgess will star opposite fellow Brit, Kate Beckinsale in the latest from director Brad Anderson. Anderson is responsible for the well-received little gems SESSION 9, THE MACHINIST, and most recently the Halle Berry thriller, THE CALL. ELIZA GRAVES will be loosely based on a short story by Edgar Allen Poe called ‘The System Of Doctor Tarr And Professor Fether’, and will focus on a medical graduate (Sturgess) taking a job at a mental asylum and not realising that the patients have in fact taken over. The film will be written by Joseph Gangemi and produced by Oren Peli among others. Filming is looking to begin this June. It sounds like an interesting horror, but could easily lose its way if not handled correctly. Anderson’s track record is fairly impressive, but he was also at the helm of VANISHING ON 7th STREET.
