The first trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to impressive sci-fi actioner, DISTRICT 9, has finally hit. Coming from Sony and TriStar Pictures, ELYSIUM saw film fans in L.A. treated to 10 minutes of footage, as well as a Q & A with the director and lead Matt Damon, on Monday, to rave reviews at some jaw-dropping footage.
The film co-stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, Wagner Moura and hits the US on the 9th August, while we in the UK must wait until the 20th September. If you missed the first poster, you can find it HERE.
The official plot synopsis goes as follows:
In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined planet. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the crime and poverty that is now rampant throughout the land. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
