Yesterday we brought Trekkies a very unique ‘cinemosiac’ motion poster for J. J. Abrams’ sci-fi sequel, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, and now have a look at the UK banner which will appear in cinemas foyer walls soon. The film will see Kirk and crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise embark on a dangerous mission to capture Benedict Cumberbatch’s mysterious villain, John Harrison (are we still buying that?).
The pre-booking online service for tickets to the summer blockbuster crashed yesterday such was the demand for opening day tickets. Did we expect anything less?
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood all return from the 2009 reboot, while newcomers include Alice Eve and former ROBOCOP, Peter Weller. It lands in UK cinemas on the 9th May and the US on 17th May.
The official plot below:
In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice.
As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
