Great New Stills For ‘300: Rise Of An Empire’, ‘The Wolverine’ & ‘R.I.P.D.’

We have a few new stills from a trio of highly anticipated efforts due for release in the coming months!

First up, check out the first look at a stunning Eva Green, armoured up in Noam Murro’s side-quel to Zack Snyder’s 2006 swords and sandals epic, 300. 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE will give another perspective of those events as Aussie actor Sullivan Stapleton’s (ANIMAL KINGDOM) Greek General Thermistocles prepares to defend his country from hulking pierced Persian, Xerxes and his invading armies. The film lands in cinemas on the 2nd August.

Here we have the first official image from supernatural crime-caper, R.I.P.D, which sees Ryan Reynolds dearly departed detective team-up with Old West sheriff Jeff Bridges, to solve his own murder in the afterlife. RED’s Robert Schwentke is at the helm of the fun adaptation of Peter M. Lenkov’s cult graphic-novel. The film hits 19th July in the US but no word yet on a UK date. Kevin Bacon, Robert Knepper and Mary Louise Parker co-star.

Finally, Hugh Jackman’s THE WOLVERINE has his adamantium claws out as mutant Logan, who’s minus his X-MEN buddies for this second solo outing, this time directed by James Mangold. The plot is based on the fan-favoutite comic-book arc by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, which transports the action to Tokyo, Japan as the angry antihero looks to rid himself of his evolutionary curse. THE WOLVERINE is unleashed on the 26th July.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
