Bathe In The ‘Byzantium’ Blood of Neil Jordan’s Latest Vampire Trailer

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE director Neil Jordan’s latest tale follows lost souls Eleanor and Clara (Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan), two mysterious and young women who flee the scene of a violent crime to find sanctuary in a run-down UK coastal resort and seedy guesthouse, BYZANTIUM. However, the desperate, beautiful duo hide a dark and forbidden secret as immortal bloodsuckers, who’ll do, and have done anything to survive over the centuries. The film is based on Moira Buffini’s script of her very own acclaimed stage play.

BYZANTIUM is released in the UK from the 31st May, while a US date has yet to be confirmed. Brit faves Tom Holland, Sam Riley and Daniel Mays co-star alongside rising US actor Caleb Landry Jones.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

This looks promising, but couldn’t they have avoided the bats-out-of-the-cave cliché?
