Love him or hate him, Aaron Sorkin gets people talking with his fast-paced witty and to-the-point scripts. If you caught his HBO series The Newsroom then you’ll be very interested to know that Season 2 isn’t far away and I, for one, can’t wait to see what they’ve got to offer.
The TV series centres around grumpy, yet intelligent, news-anchor Will McAvoy, fantastically played by Jeff Daniels. Will and his team are gradually changing the way news is portrayed and presented, and it’s all led by female producer MacKenzie McHale (Emily Mortimer). There’s an impressive cast that includes Maggie Jordan, John Gallagher Jr, Dev Patel, Thomas Sadoski, Sam Waterson and a special mention for the stunning Olivia Munn, who’s awesome.
The Newsroom is set back a year or so, as its based around real-life news stories and although this could sound slightly bizarre, it’s done brilliantly and I actually wish it was REAL. News reports in this modern era often flounder around speculation but this series endeavours to get to the facts and real story. and these guys seek out the most relevant news and then find a way to portray it fairly, something Western news channels rarely do. This new teaser is exactly that description but I’m still very excited. You’ve got time to catch up before Series 2 starts, so go seek it! Season 2 kicks off in the USA from July 14th, we hope it’s not too long for us either in the UK.
