David O. Russell is half way through shooting his follow up to Oscar-winning drama, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, with a true story based on a notorious financial con man and his partner in crime. The two worked together with an unpredictable FBI agent to bring down a number of other con artists and underworld figures. However, their sting operation during the late 1970s, known as ‘Abscam’, lead to the conviction of a number of high-profile corrupt US politicians.
The film was previously known as AMERICAN BULLSHIT and as well as ABSCAM, but we can now confirm the title is AMERICAN HUSTLE. THE FIGHTER’s Oscar-winner Christian Bale and nominee Amy Adams play the swindling couple with Bradley Cooper taking the role of the Fed. SILVER LINING’S PLAYBOOK Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence also features alongside Jeremy Renner, Dawn Olivieri, Louis C.K. and Alessandro Nivola.
