Over the course of the previous seven seasons, Jeff Lindsay’s loveable serial-killer Dexter Morgan has slashed his way through countless (mostly deserving) victims as he hid in plain sight as Miami’s skilled forensic blood-spatter analyst. However, after rumours suggesting Michael C. Hall wanted out two seasons ago (a healthy $22 million pay check smoothing things out), Showtime’s finally confirmed season eight will be the last.
I’ve loved the show, which like most series has had it’s ups and downs (becoming a little stale over the last two seasons in particular) but I agree the time is right to wrap things up and hopefully see everyones favourite mass-murderer go out with a bang!
Hall returns alongside Jennfier Carpenter, David Zayas, C.S. Lee, Desmond Harrington and Yvonne Strahovski (as the seductive femme fatale Hannah McKay), for season eight which premieres on Sunday, June 30th in the US. Check out this first clip.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
