Tom Hiddleston Joins Gemma Arterton In Robert Capa Biopic

Tom Hiddleston The Muppets Again

You’ve gotta love it when casting news comes out about Tom Hiddleston because he chooses his roles so carefully, and it doesn’t look like he’ll have a bad hit any time soon. The AVENGERS ASSEMBLE star will be joining Gemma Arterton to star in a film based on the life of war photographer Robert Capa. When Arterton spoke about the project at the Marrakech International Film Festival, director Paul Andrew Williams was at the helm of the film with a script from Menno Meyjes and with no news to tell us otherwise, it still looks that way.

There was a little bit of confusion about the film, as there are currently two projects being developed about Capa, but the version that Arterton and Hiddleston are attached to looks like it will touch on Capa’s romance with photographer Gerda Taro during the Spanish Civil War, but it still unclear whether that will be a main point or just a subplot. Hiddleston has already spoke about Capa, and he says how he sees his life in ‘heroic’ terms:

“A Hungarian kicked out of Hungary for writing against Fascism, he moved to Germany where he was kicked out for being Jewish, then he moved to France and from there began a life-long commitment to make a stand against forces of fascism. As a man he was fantastically charismatic, dynamic, vigorous, exciting and energetic, too. I plan to go to the places he lived, those places he visited, read books about him, study his photographs and, crucially, learn how he took them.”

He knows how to put things so elegantly doesn’t he? We will be watching to see what parts of Capa’s life will make it to the movie though.
