Stunning New Covers, Stills & Zod Statuette From ‘Man Of Steel’

I’d love to say MAN OF STEEL flew to the top of my ‘most wanted’ list following the recent epic trailer. The truth is, it was sitting pretty right at the top before a scene was even shot. Growing up during the 1980s, Christopher Reeve’s iconic incarnation of the character left a place in my heart for the Kryptonian superhero but looking back now, the first two films of his four outings are the only ones worthy of a mention. I do also have a fondness for Bryan Singer’s 2006 under-loved effort, SUPERMAN RETURNS. So, with MAN OF STEEL coming together with a certain Christopher Nolan leading the way, the return of Kal-El/Clark Kent is my must see for 2013!

Check out Henry Cavill and Michael Shannon (playing the villainous General Zod) gracing the covers of this months Empire magazine, as well as super new stills and Zod’s statuette.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

The look of Zod and gang is a nice departure from Donner’s Bee Gees in Superman II but seriously, what’s with Zod’s haircut?
