Rising actor Adan Canto, currently best known for his role as serial-killing servant Paul Torres in Kevin Williamson’s hit series THE FOLLOWING, has confirmed via his Twitter account that he has signed up for Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. He’s yet to confirm who he’ll be playing but left a cryptic response when asked about his character:

Some are suggesting the Brazillian mutant Sunspot or taking over the role of Pyro, previously portrayed by Aaron Stanford in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND.

He’ll join a super cast reuniting James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Halle Berry, with newcomers to the franchise, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart.

The film will be based on the fan-favourite comic book arc by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, which follows an alternate timeline and incorporated time-travel. Hence the casting of both McAvoy and Fassbender with the originals Stewart and McKellen. X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will arrive in cinemas from 18th July 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
