Chris Hemsworth’s Face Fills First Terrific Poster For Ron Howard’s ‘Rush’

While today saw the first trailer unleashed for Chris Hemsworth’s return as intergalactic superhero THOR in Marvel’s sci-fi fantasy follow-up, THE DARK WORLD, we’ll first see Hemsworth headline Ron Howard’s sporting drama, RUSH. The epic fact-based drama, set during the late 1970s golden age of Formula One, has Hemsworth in the role of the charismatic yet cocky English driver, James Hunt. The film centres on his legendary rivalry, on and off the racetrack, with disciplined Austrian Niki Lauda, which almost came to a tragic conclusion.

The film reunites Howard with his FROST/NIXON biopic specialist screenwriter Peter Morgan (THE QUEEN, THE DAMNED UNITED), with Daniel Brühl behind the wheel as respected nemesis Lauda. The cast also includes Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara, Stephen Mangan, Christian McKay, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Jamie de Courcey and Natalie Dormer.

However, it’s Hemsworth’s handsome close-up who dominates the first poster for the film racing into UK from 13th September and the US a week later. Click on the links for the first and second fascinating trailers, for those who missed them.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
