Ace New Images From ‘Elysium’ & ‘Ender’s Game’

He may be nailing it as ‘The Mandarin’ in Shane Black’s IRON MAN 3 but Ben Kinglsey also has a much-antipacted role in the big-screen adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s YA novel ENDER’S GAME. Here he is as Mazer Rackham, the man who trains the young prodigal genius in the futuristic fantasy film that sees young survivors of an Alien invasion brought up in a Battle School to lead Earth’s fightback. X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE director Gavin Hood is at the helm. Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Viola Davis co-star. ENDER’S GAME arrives in the UK 25th October and the US 1st November.

Next up is another look at Neill Blomkamp’s fantastic-looking follow-up to DISTRICT 9. Matt Damon leads the cast as one of the billions living on a decimated Earth during year 2154, while the very wealthy live on a man-made luxurious space station. Not prepared to take it anymore he makes it his mission to bring equality to the polarised worlds. Jodie Foster and Blomkamp’s muse Sharlto Copley (who only today we confirmed would also lead the directors CHAPPIE) are the duo who attempt to make sure he doesn’t complete his task. ELYSIUM land in the US 9th August and the UK 20th September.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
