Natalie Portman To Taunt Fassbender As Lady ‘Macbeth’

Natalie Portman in Black Swan

We recently brought you the news that dick-dangling British thespian Michael Fassbender will lead a new big-screen screen adaptation of William Shakespeare‘s iconic play MACBETH. As for his driven and maniacal other half? Well, we can now confirm Oscar-winning stunner Natalie Portman will appear alongside Fassbender once again, following their work on Terrence Malick’s still-to-be-released (and untitled) music drama. They were both supposed to appear in the seemingly cursed production of western thriller JANE GOT A GUN before X-MEN: DAY OF FUTURE PAST scheduling forced the Fass to exit.

This early casting is shaping up to make, what I’ve always felt to be the Bard’s best work, a must see. However, most exciting for myself is the opportunity to see Australian director Justin Kurzel follow up his unforgettable and chilling fact-based shocker SNOWTOWN. A gripping film that certainly got under my skin.

MACBETH has been adapted by Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
