Despite what the title has always suggested, Armie Hammer’s THE LONE RANGER won’t be alone during Walt Disney Pictures rebooted adventure of the western icon. Not only does he have his trusted steed Silver, but native indian sidekick Tonto (Johnny Depp) by his side as he is resurrected to deliver justice to his lawless hometown.
The film was initially lucky to get off the ground with Disney significantly slashing the budget in an effort to reinvent in hero for a new generation of fans in what many see as a dying genre. However, rumours of a plagued production that eventually saw the final finances ballon to a reported $250 million and leaving the film a long shot to break even, never mind a profit. Although, even I have to admit this looks a whole heap of fun.
Depp reunites with PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN director Gore Verbinski with the film also starring Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter. It will ride into cinemas in the US on the 3rd July and the UK 9th August.
