Having just vacated the plagued production of western thriller JANE GOT A GUN, Bradley Cooper will now headline the big-screen biopic of decorated US Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. Legendary Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg will direct the SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK Academy-Award nominee with a screenplay coming from Jason Hall, who has adapted Kyle’s best-selling book ‘American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History.’

The film is said to follow Kyle’s early life as a rodeo cowboy right through to his latter years of reaching the most confirmed sniper kills for a US marine during his time in the military. However, his passion for weaponry led him to spending most of his time teaching others how to improve their shooting skills, but fatally met his end via a fellow discharged veteran, Chad Littlefield, who gunned him down at a Texas shooting range in February of this year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
