Another Great One-Sheet For Supernatural Crime Caper ‘R.I.P.D.’

We have the brand new poster for RED director Robert Schwentke’s supernatural action-comedy R.I.P.D. The film is based on the cult graphic novel by Peter M. Lenkov and follows rookie detective Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds), killed in action and who crosses to the ‘otherside’ to join the Rest In Peace Department and partner up with Old West Sheriff Roy Pulsifer (Jeff Bridges) in an effort to bring his murderer to justice in the afterlife.

The first trailer and poster had a MEN IN BLACK feel to proceedings and looked a whole heap of fun, while this latest one-sheep recalls GHOSTBUSTERS! The film also features Mary-Louise Parker, Kevin Bacon, Robert Knepper, Stephanie Szostak, James Hong and Larry Joe Campbell. It hits the US from 19th July and the UK 30th August. The official plot synopsis goes as follows:

Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds headline the 3D supernatural action-adventure R.I.P.D. as two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from an increasingly destructive array of souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side. Veteran sheriff Roy Pulsifer has spent his career with the legendary police force known as R.I.P.D. tracking monstrous spirits who are cleverly disguised as ordinary people. His mission? To arrest and bring to justice a special brand of criminals trying to escape final judgment by hiding among the unsuspecting on Earth. Once the wise-cracking Roy is assigned former rising-star detective Nick Walker as his junior officer, the new partners have to turn grudging respect into top-notch teamwork. When they uncover a plot that could end life as we know it, two of R.I.P.D.’s finest must miraculously restore the cosmic balance…or watch the tunnel to the afterlife begin sending angry souls the very wrong way.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
