First Still From Alexander Payne’s ‘Nebraska’

I’m a huge fan of Alexander Payne’s satirical and biting output, particularly ELECTION, SIDEWAYS and ABOUT SCHMIDT, so I’m extremely looking forward to his upcoming NEBRASKA.  The film is writer/director Payne’s first effort since the Oscar-nominated hit THE DESCENDANTS and follows an alcoholic father (Bruce Dern) who decides to take a road trip from his home in Montana to Nebraska, all to collect what he believes to be a million dollar prize. Bringing his estranged son (Will Forte) along for the ride.

Payne shot the entire the entire picture in black and white, while on location through the Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota highways.

The film will premiere at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival later this month and will hit US cinemas from 22nd November, while a UK is still to be confirmed. Check out this first still for the film co-starring Bob Odenkirk, Stacy Keach and Rance Howard.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
