McQuarrie To Tackle ‘Ice Station Zebra’ Remake

JACK REACHER

While it’s expected he’ll take on the next MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE instalment, reuniting again with his JACK REACHER lead Tom Cruise, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie will first helm a remake of the Cold War thriller ICE STATION ZEBRA for Warner Bros.

The original 1968 movie, directed by the legendary John Sturges and based on the same-titled, best-selling novel by Alistair McLean, centred on an American Naval submarine attempting to retrieve top secret photographic material with the Russians also hot on their trail. The all-star action-thriller included a cast of Rock Hudson, Ernest Borgnine, Patrick McGoohan and Jim Brown.

Any fans of the original film happy with Oscar-winner McQuarrie onboard?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
