Universal Snaps Up MacFarlane’s ‘A Million Ways To Die In The West’

Ted 2 Seth MacFarlane Mark Wahlberg

You can say what you want about last year’s runaway comedy TED, but it certainly made this guy laugh. Seth MacFarlane’s follow-up to that film, which is a western called A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST, has been picked up by Universal (the same studio that released TED) and MRC, and it will debut next summer, all according to Variety.

Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried and Liam Neeson will star in the film, which is written by MacFarlane, Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin.

The trade lists the synopsis for the film as the following:

Story follows a cowardly sheep farmer who backs out of a gunfight and loses his his fickle girlfriend in the process, who leaves him for another man.  When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love.  But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.

So looking forward to this. The actual date for delivery of the film, in North America anyway, is 30th May 2014.

MacFarlane has already been snapped up for a sequel to TED to follow this, after the whopping $540 million international success of the first movie.
