Reports are surfacing that action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger is in negotiations to appear in a reboot of Troma’s cheap schlocker THE TOXIC AVENGER. However, he wont be the one to wield the mop as the tragically transformed nerd who gains his super-strength via an accident involving a vault of acid. The original 1984s cult comic hooror, created by Lloyd Kaufman, spawned two sequels and a hilariously bizarre cartoon series titled THE TOXIC CRUSADERS, with the hulking hero animated and teaming up with other deformed do-gooders.

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE writer/director Steve Pink has adapted the screenplay and is expected to helm the reboot of the campy action comedy. It’s expected the film will receive a major big-budget overhaul to what we’ve seen previous with the character, with the hope of creating a new franchise. No word yet on which role the Governator could take but we suggest he’ll appear as the villain. John Travolta has also been linked to the film over the last year.

Is this a good move for Arnie? Do let us know your thoughts!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
