Gyllenhaal & Pine To Head ‘Into The Woods’

Jake Gyllenhaal

Reports have surfaced that Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine may be joining Meryl Streep, Johnny Deep and James Corden for INTO THE WOODS.

The musical, produced by Walt Disney Pictures, tells the story of a baker (Corden) and his wife who are both desperate to have a child. However, to lift their curse they must go on an epic adventure, with them meeting many different fairytale characters along the way. With elements taken from Jack And The Beanstalk, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel, Pine and Gyllenhaal are expected to play pompous princes. While Depp is to play the ‘Wolf’, Streep will feature as the Witch (her THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA role – but uglier?).

This isn’t the first time fairy stories have been meshed together to create something more magical (think SHREK). With Streep, Corden and Depp leading the cast, any add-ons (including Chris and Jake) will just boost an already great cast.

Directed by Rob Marshall (CHICAGO) and with music and lyrics created by Stephen Sondheim, INTO THE WOODS is expected to start filming this autumn.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
