Macbeth To The Hothouse: Trafalgar Transformed Press Conference & Fantastic Images

the hothouse

If you missed James McAvoy seeing daggers before him as Macbeth, never fear. Jamie Lloyd’s extraordinary Trafalgar Transformed season continues with his revival of one of Pinter’s more obscure masterpieces, THE HOTHOUSE. And when we say ‘obscure,’ we don’t mean it in the hipster ‘You probably haven’t heard of it, I liked Pregnant Pauses before they were cool’ sense. Pinter himself wrote the piece in 1958 and, in the wake of THE BIRTHDAY PARTY’S lack of commercial success, quickly grew to dislike it. The play didn’t debut until 1980 and has remained under the radar for many years. But following on from the success of his production of The Scottish Play, Jamie Lloyd has assembled an incredible cast to bring this hauntingly prescient piece to life once again. It’s funny and harrowing in equal measure and, having the audience face the audience, uses the environment to make us look at proceedings, and perhaps ourselves, differently.

Below you will find a video of the press conference in which the cast of Shakespeare’s classic pass the torch to Simm, Beale and co, as well as some brand new production stills. If you can, we strongly recommend going to see THE HOTHOUSE, our review can be read here.
