Found Footage Time Travel Film ‘Almanac’ Gets Cast

Sofia Black D'Elia Jonny Weston Almanac Michael BayIf time travel and found footage are known to ring your bell then you’ll be happy to know that not one, but two films are on the horizon. GLIMMER is being produced by Dreamworks and has recently added Jeremy Allen White to its cast, whereas the Michael Bay produced ALMANAC is setting up to cast by entering negotiations. Bay will co-produce along with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form via their Platinum Dunes outfit.

The young stars entering negotiations are Jonny Weston and Sofia Black-D’Elia. Weston was getting his name out there last year thanks to roles in JOHN DIES AT THE END and surfing movie CHASING MAVERICKS. Black-D’Elia has mostly kept to TV in some high profile US shows such as ALL MY CHILDREN, the US version of SKINS, and GOSSIP GIRL. She also tested for the female lead in TRANSFORMERS 4, so you must have made an impression on Mr Bay.

Andrew Stark and Jason Pagan are the debut writers behind the project, with Dean Israelite helming the project. Budget wise, ALMANAC is looking to shoot this summer in Atlanta for a cool $12 million, while its competitor GLIMMER, is going for a whopping $15 million budget.

With time travel yet to be explored via found footage, I’m a very excited little bunny at the prospect of two films on the subject. Hopefully at least one will deliver.
