There’s a new rom-com around the corner and it’s setting up with a good comedy cast, with a hint of a few already gone by but we’re always happy to see Anna Kendrick. Joining her will be New Girl‘s Jake Johnson, Olivia Wilde and Ron Livingston, who you’ll probably know best from OFFICE SPACE but all four have been having a rather successful time of it later.
In DRINKING BUDDIES, all four are as suggests, but with an intriguing new premise and one partly close to my heart, craft beer! Kate (Wilde) and Luke (Johnson) are colleagues at a brewery, and everyone thinks they’ll probably get it on one day soon but…they are also each in a relationship. Kate is going out with Chris (Ron Livingston), and Luke is seeing Jill (Anna Kendrick). It’s said that Jill wants to move their relationship forward, but Luke isn’t so sure. This isn’t a debut project for writer and director Joe Swanberg, but he’s definitely been working hard for quite a number of years now, and this could be a good way to slip into the mainstream. It’s being managed by Magnolia Pictures and currently has an internet (yes!) release on July 25th and a USA cinema release on August 23rd.
